A Personalized Approach to Aesthetic Surgery

One size does not fit all. Dr. Mathew Plant’s boutique approach to breast augmentation and revision provides a fully customized experience for patients looking for natural, ultra-flattering results.

Small Breasts

Sometimes we’re not born with a size of breasts that makes us feel balanced in our figure. For those searching for larger breasts, a breast augmentation using implants is the most common solution.

Post-Pregnancy

Pregnancy and childbirth, while beautiful and natural, can take a serious toll on the breasts. A woman’s breasts can fluctuate throughout this process, often making a breast augmentation with a breast lift necessary.

Aging

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and also stops producing the collagen needed to maintain it’s firmness. For this concern, Dr. Plant may suggest either a breast lift, breast augmentation or both.

Implant Options

Saline implants consist of a silicone shell filled with saline solution, the substance that comprises 70% of your body. They can feel slightly less natural in comparison to silicone implants, however due to the body’s ability to safely absorb saline solution if the implant leaks some patients prefer to have their implants filled with it. Because they are inserted empty and then filled, they also give Dr. Plant the ability to adjust the volume to accommodate for asymmetry or sagging.

Silicone implants tend to feel softer and “more natural” than saline however they come pre-filled with silicone gel which does not allow for size adjustments on the table. There are hundreds of size options available so the procedure can still be customized to your body. The majority of breast augmentation is performed using this type of implant.

The IDEAL implant is a structured implant that combines the best features of a saline and silicone implant. This implant feels very similar to a silicone implant, but contains no silicone gel and therefore can give patients the peace of mind that a saline implant provides. Although the design is relatively new, it is made from the same high-quality materials that have been used to manufacture saline implants for decades.

Incision Options

This incision is made underneath the breast in the crease where the breast meets the body. This incision is popular because of the accuracy it provides when placing the implants, a decreased rate of capsular contracture and is in an easily hidden area. This incision allows the implant to be placed behind the breast gland without damaging it so it is a great choice for women who are still planning to breastfeed.

This incision is created along the bottom of the areola and does not require incisions on any other area of the breast. This is a good choice for people who are concerned about keloid scarring because it tends to scar well. This incision can affect the ability to breastfeed because incisions have to be made through the breast gland in order to insert the implant.

To avoid scarring anywhere on the breasts the implant can be inserted through an incision made in the armpit area. This type of incision is also good for a patient wanting to be careful to preserve their mammary glands for further breastfeeding.

Implant Placement

Subglandular implant placement involves the breast implant being placed beneath the breast tissue but over the chest muscle.

The most common breast augmentation placement involves the breast implant being placed under the breast tissue and the chest muscle.

Submuscular implant placement involves the breast implant being placed entirely underneath the muscle. This is rarely used anymore; however, there are cases where this may be a consideration
