When it comes to breast implants, silicone and traditional saline have been the only options for a traditional breast augmentation in Toronto. But now a new option has entered the market that attempts to combine the benefits of both silicone and saline implants. Enter…the Ideal® Implant. The Ideal Implant became FDA and Health Canada approved in 2014 and is only offered by select Toronto plastic surgeons like Dr. Plant. Find out what makes this implant so unique!
IDEAL Implant Benefits
Natural Feel
Regular saline implants are like a water balloon with just a single shell layer, which tends not to feel very natural. Silicone implants are much softer and feel like a natural breast, however despite numerous studies showing the safety of them, some women do not want to have a silicone implant because it is not a “natural substance” The Ideal Implant in Toronto is composed of several shells, allowing them to hold their shape for a natural look and feel. The implants are filled with saline, which is usually considered less natural feeling than silicone, however, the Ideal Implant’s shells provide a structure to the implant that controls the movement of the saline, giving a more natural feel. The implant keeps its shape instead of falling flat. The Ideal Implant utilizes multiple shells for added strength and stability.
Safety of Saline Implants
The Ideal Implant offers the natural breast feel of a silicone implant with the safety profile and peace of mind that comes with saline. While implant ruptures are rare, they do happen. The Ideal Implant only uses saline fill, which can be safely absorbed by the body if it were to leak out.
Saline and Silicone Breast Implants
No More “Silent Rupture”
ALL implants come with a rupture rate of approximately 1% per year. Although it sounds like an explosive process, a rupture typically consists of a small hole in a shell that occurs from natural wear and tear. Silent rupture occurs when silicone implants keep their shape when the shell is damaged, causing the rupture to go unnoticed. Saline implants deflate, making it noticeable right away. This eliminates the need for regular MRIs to inspect the condition of the implant, however, it leaves the patient with a deflated breast on one side, which can be quite unnerving. The IDEAL implant will deflate enough to indicate a rupture has happened, but will not fully deflate because of the second, intact chamber. If you experience a breast implant rupture, you may want to consider breast implant revision in Toronto.
Low Complication Rate
Aside from eliminating the dangers of a rupture, studies thus far indicate the Ideal Implants have a reduced risk of other complications like rippling or capsular contracture. This is because the multiple layers of the shell that make up the implant resist deforming more than any single-shelled implant, saline or silicone.
